I was born in Villingen, in the Black Forest, in 1963, and discovered photography in 1980. After working with no specific theme for a while, I turned to portrait photography. After a seminar on photographing nudes in Burgenland near Vienna led by Detlev Motz, I also included nude photography in my work. I work mainly outdoors, but am also available for indoor shoots. I prefer natural light for my work, but I also have some studio lamps to provide support when working indoors. As a photographer, I feel that it is important to capture the essential characteristics of a person in the picture. My aims for each photo shoot are to depict people in their natural state, as they would like to see themselves and as they find themselves in my work! And yet it's also important to have fun working together too. As person who is entirely self-taught, I see my hobby as a photographer as the perfect balance for my job in marketing. An eye for that "something special" combined with technical perfection should be reflected in the shots from each photo shoot, whether it's on a TFP basis (with models I have chosen myself) or for commissioned work.

I first grappled with photography when I was just 14 years old. My father let me loose on humanity with a Kodak camera with a leather case and a light meter that was also encased in leather. It's amazing when you think that nowadays cameras go off automatically when you laugh. I learnt all about camera settings and the interplay between the aperture, shutter speeds and film sensitivity. After a further four years, I was then given a Rollei 35 miniature viewfinder camera, which produced brilliant results for me back then. |

After this, I bought my first single-lens reflex camera, an EXAKTA HS-3. It had a bayonet for Pentax lenses and took really good photographs, as far as I could judge. I then made the switch to CANON when the EOS series came out, and specifically to the 650 EOS with autofocus. Over the years, I have made one or two purchases, but have stayed loyal to the CANON brand ever since. I often hear about differences of opinion between owners of CANON and NIKON cameras, which I myself consider to be fairly stupid. The camera is a tool, a good photograph is a matter of opinion, interpretation or whatever ..., but in any case, it is the well-trained eye that captures the viewer, and the technical quality of the two brands is pretty much the same!

Book publication One day, after an entry in the forum of the nude photography gallery, I received an invitation to enter a competition for a volume of art pictures, for which you were allowed to send in up to 10 shots. I decided to choose 8 photographs to send, and after being shortlisted, I was chosen to be included in the book.This gave me the chance for the first time to present my work to a wider public, which was fantastic for me, of course. Until then, only a very small circle of friends and acquaintance had been aware of my creative photographic work, and of course I hope that this might also open up a doorway to new opportunities. I will now be keeping an eye out for more models so that I can gather material for future exhibitions and competitions. On 23 April 2005, there was a meeting in Berlin of all the photographers who had been involved in the illustrated book, and a presentation followed by a book signing was organised in a bookshop.The whole project was very well organised and included an exciting evening when all the photographers and models were able to exchange ideas.
